International Friendship Day 2019
This year, the school commemorated International Friendship Day on 15 Apr 2019. The theme for this year’s International Friendship Day is “Connected Communities”. With the world today getting more interconnected and people are increasingly more mobile, it is important for Singaporeans to have a global outlook while staying rooted to Singapore, our homeland. It is also important for us to continue to embrace cultural diversity and appreciate the contribution of past and new immigrants living and working in Singapore. With that in mind, the school started the commemoration with an assembly programme that focused on communities from countries beyond ASEAN that has settled and contributed to Singapore since 1819. Besides that, on 16 and 17 Apr 2019, booths were set up in the hall during curriculum time for students to learn more about the cultural of countries beyond ASEAN, namely Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Korea, Netherlands and Russia. Through the interesting cultural-related activities and traditional games at the booths, the students now have a greater understanding of the culture of these countries.
